Turning Point

31Jason created the limited edition snowboard bronze sculpture, “The Turning Point”, to capture the memories of snowboarding with his younger brother, Jeremy. He had no inkling that his piece would become recognized by many avid snowboarders, and that the fourteen-foot sculpture would one day be placed in the heart of Muskegon, Michigan to honor the inventor of snowboarding, Sherman Poppen who had lived there for many years. Sherman created the first snowboard, the “Snurfer”, by tying together two skies to entertain his young daughters. That is how a great sport was born. Having his piece displayed near the Sports Hall of Fame in the town known as the birthplace of snowboarding is an remarkable honor, but to Jason this piece will always be personal and close to his heart.

“The Turning Point” generates railing movement in the contemporary ribbon. The figurative work on each snowboarder embodies the art of snowboarding by displaying extreme flexibility and balance. The high polish alone lights up the piece to make an unforgettable impression! It is inspired and instigated to accurately capture the elements of passion, progression, motion, and energy in snowboarding.
